Founded in 1997, the aim of Par Excellence Software Architects was to address a growing market for innovative point of sale and communications systems within the travel industry.

For years the market had been dominated by a number of solutions where the only differential offered to the client were the logos and graphics of the point of sale applications. The complex and unreliable communications hooks available at the time meant that the reservations systems were little more than human assisted off line processes.

PE as a result focused on simplifying and strengthening the communications technology behind the point of sale systems. This made the reservation of air, car and hotel products a fully integrated function of the system, rather than the human assisted process that it had been previously.

The early years of the Internet have seen further innovation, and PE has helped numerous clients take advantage of this new technology allowing them to stake a claim for a piece of the hottest turf the world has ever seen.

The future of the travel industry is very uncertain, recent surveys indicate that at least 50% of consumers would prefer to book online using either Digital Television or the Internet. The radical changes that therefore must, and will, take place within the industry to enable this to happen are immense.
